Case for Support

Silent Spring Institute

Changing the Story About Breast Cancer

We wrote and designed this case statement for Silent Spring Institute to seek funding for a groundbreaking initiative that's transforming how healthcare providers discuss cancer prevention with their patients.

When a woman hears "breast cancer," she deserves more than half the story. Yet for decades, the medical establishment has focused primarily on detection and treatment while overlooking a crucial truth: many cancers can be prevented by reducing exposure to environmental toxins.

The Silent Spring Institute case statement isn't just asking for support—it's inviting donors to write a new ending to a story that affects millions of women. Through compelling personal framing ("Your mom, your daughter, your sister, your friend"), the case reveals four missing truths about breast cancer that challenge conventional wisdom and offer hope where little existed before.

This isn't just another fundraising appeal — it's an opportunity to join a paradigm shift in women's health. The case details a two-step initiative that equips healthcare providers with the science and tools they need to have meaningful prevention conversations with their patients. Through continuing education forums that one nurse called "the best I've ever seen" and innovative info cards piloted at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Silent Spring Institute is changing the narrative from "treatment only" to "prevention first."

The emotional resonance is clear: "Together with you, we can tell the whole story. We can shift the paradigm. We can save more lives." For donors who care deeply about women's health, this case offers something beyond a financial transaction—the chance to write a happy ending for generations to come.
